Bentley Releases 2014-15 Hockey Schedule

The Bentley University hockey team has released its 2014-15 schedule. The 34-game slate features 28 Atlantic Hockey games and six non-conference contests, including two games at Penn State Oct. 30 and Oct. 31.
Battista & Gensler Named Bentley’s Outstanding Senior Athletes; Battista Also Recipient of Powers Award

Three-time All-America Lauren Battista (North Easton/Oliver Ames HS), who led the women’s basketball team to the NCAA Division II national championship, and Brett Gensler (St. Charles, Mo./Youngstown Phantoms), the top scorer in Atlantic Hockey history, have been named the Outstanding Senior Athletes at Bentley University. Battista, who graduated last weekend with a sparkling 3.96 GPA, was also the recipient of the Edward J. Powers Scholar-Athlete Award as Bentley’s premier senior scholar-athlete.
Gladiuk Selected to CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District 1 Team

Bentley University hockey sophomore Andrew Gladiuk (White Rock, B.C./Nanaimo Clippers) has been selected to the CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District 1 Men’s At-Large team for Division I, it was announced on Thursday.
Weinstein & Gensler Named to New England All-Star Team

Bentley University defenseman Steve Weinstein (Los Angeles, Calif/Vernon Vipers) and former Falcon Brett Gensler (St. Charles, Mo./Youngstown Phantoms) have been named to the 2013-14 New England Hockey Writers Division I All-Star team.

Bentley University junior defenseman Steve Weinstein (Los Angeles, Calif./Vernon Vipers) was named one of three finalists for the 62nd Walter Brown Award, given to the best American-born college hockey player in New England, the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston announced Wednesday morning.
Gensler Signs With ECHL’s South Carolina Stingrays

The South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL announced Saturday that they signed former Bentley hockey standout Brett Gensler. The Stingrays are affiliated with the Boston Bruins and the AHL’s Providence Bruins.

Second-seeded Bentley gets its push for the Atlantic Hockey title underway on Friday night when they host seventh-seeded Canisius in game one of a best-of-three quarterfinal series at Ryan Arena. Game two is Saturday night and game three, if necessary, will be Sunday evening. Each game begins at 7:05 pm.
Six Falcons Earn All-Atlantic Hockey Honors

A league-high six Bentley Falcons received All-Atlantic Hockey honors as voted on by the conference’s 12 head coaches, it was announced Thursday morning. The Bentley University hockey team defeated AIC 5-1 Friday night on Senior Night at Ryan Arena as the Falcons clinched a first round bye in the upcoming Atlantic Hockey Tournament. Senior right winger Brett Gensler (St. Charles, Mo./Youngstown Phantoms) notched one goal and one assist to become the AHA’s all-time leading scorer.

The Bentley hockey team will close out the 2013-14 regular season this weekend with a home-and-home series against Atlantic Hockey rival the AIC Yellow Jackets. Friday night’s game takes place in Watertown at Ryan Arena where the team’s seven seniors will be honored on Senior Night.
