WALTHAM, Mass. – A league-high six Bentley Falcons received All-Atlantic Hockey honors as voted on by the conference's 12 head coaches, it was announced Thursday morning. Senior forward Brett Gensler (St. Charles, Mo./Youngstown Phantoms) and junior defenseman Steve Weinstein (Los Angeles, Calif./Vernon Vipers) led the way by being named to the first team.

Junior center Alex Grieve (Calgary, Alberta/Westside Warriors), sophomore defenseman Matt Blomquist (Blaine, Minn./Coulee Region Chill) and senior goalie Branden Komm (Williamsville, N.Y./Northfield Mount Hermon) were all voted to the second team. Sophomore center Andrew Gladiuk (White Rock, B.C./Nanaimo Clippers) was picked to the third team.

All six helped Bentley to a strong regular season where they went 16-7-4 in AHA play for the program's highest ever finish of second-place. They will take on seventh-seeded Canisius in a best-of-three quarterfinal series beginning Friday night with game one at the JAR.

Gensler was named first team All-Atlantic Hockey for the third straight season after winning his second AHA regular season scoring title in three seasons. He's one of the leading scorers in the nation, with his 1.32 points per game average fourth best. He finished the regular season with 45 points on 18 goals and 27 assists.

Weinstein, a second team All-Atlantic Hockey selection in 2013, was the top scoring defenseman in the country nearly all season. Entering play this weekend, he still tops that list at 1.00 points per game (34 points total). The LA native was also one of the nation's leaders in assists all season, and his 33 helpers are currently third in the country.

Grieve teamed with Gensler and Brett Switzer (Calgary, Alberta/Spruce Grove Saints) to form one of the most potent lines in the AHA. He finished the regular season with 41 points on 22 goals and 19 assists. That places him fourth in the conference in points and tied for second in goals entering the weekend. Nationally he's tied for fifth in goals.

An All-Rookie pick last season, Blomquist is fourth in the AHA in points among defensemen with 25, despite missing six games. His points per game average of 0.89 is fourth nationally among defensemen, and his 22 assists rank 12^th in the AHA.

Komm received his second career All-Conference nod after being selected to the third team as a sophomore. A workhorse between the pipes, Komm has started all 34 games so far and leads the AHA in wins with 18. In 27 AHA regular season games, he posted a 2.29 goals against average (3^rd in AHA) and a .925 save percentage (2^nd). He'll take a 54-game consecutive starts streak into play this weekend.

Gladiuk, the 2013 AHA Rookie of the Year, has helped Bentley maintain one of the country's best power play units at 26.7%. Of his 22 total goals, 16 came on the power play, which leads all skaters in Division I. His 22 total goals are tied for second in the AHA and tied for fifth nationally. Gladiuk also added 14 assists to finish the regular season with 36 points.
