Grieve Named Atlantic Hockey Co-Player of the Week

WALTHAM, Mass. – Junior center Alex Grieve (Calgary, Alberta/Westside Warriors) of the Bentley hockey team has been named the Travel Team USA Atlantic Hockey Co-Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday morning.

Grieve led the Falcons to a 5-1 home victory over AIC last Friday night that clinched a first round bye in the upcoming Atlantic Hockey Tournament. He had two goals and two assists, with one of each coming in the first period. That helped Bentley take a 2-1 lead into the second period after they fell behind 1-0 just 3:20 into the contest.

It was his second four-point game of the season and 12th multi-point game. Grieve finished the regular season tied for second in Atlantic Hockey in goals (22) with teammate Andrew Gladiuk (White Rock, B.C./Nanaimo Clippers) and third in points (41).

Grieve becomes the fifth different Bentley player to be named the AHA Player of the Week this season, joining Gladiuk, Brett Gensler (St. Charles, Mo./Youngstown Phantoms) and defensemen Steve Weinstein (Los Angeles, Calif./Vernon Vipers) and Matt Blomquist (Blaine, Minn./Coulee Region Chill). He shares the award this week with Mercyhurst's Nardo Nagtzaam.

Due to their sweep of AIC over the weekend, the Falcons earned the No. 2 seed in the AHA Tournament. After a weekend off, they will open their quarterfinal series with game one at the JAR on Friday, March 14 at 7:05 pm.
