WATERTOWN, Mass. – Canisius' Kyle Gibbons scored 6:59 in double overtime as the Golden Griffins staved off elimination and forced a game three with a 5-4 victory over Bentley in the Atlantic Hockey quarterfinals game two Saturday night.

The Falcons led 4-1 after two periods and looked set to close out the series, only Canisius, the defending AHA champions, wouldn't go down without a fight and scored three goals in the third period to force overtime.

Bentley had a couple great chances in the first overtime but could not convert and the game went into a second overtime. Just before seven minutes passed, Gibbons ripped a shot from that point that clanked in off the crossbar for the winning goal and to force a deciding game three at the JAR Sunday night.

The Falcons built a 4-1 lead with goals by Brett Gensler (St. Charles, Mo./Youngstown Phantoms) and freshman Tyler Deresky (Flemington, N.J./Amarillo Bulls) in the first period. Gensler's goal came after a Bentley shot deflected off the body of Alex Grieve (Calgary, Alberta/Westside Warriors) and the puck bounced right to him, allowing him to rip a shot in the slot past Canisius goalie Tony Capobianco to give Bentley a 1-0 lead.

Deresky's goal came after a shot by defenseman Steve Weinstein (Los Angeles, Calif./Vernon Vipers) was saved by Capobianco, and Deresky buried the rebound.

Bentley went up 3-1 at 7:08 of the second period on junior Brett Switzer's (Calgary, Alberta/Spruce Grove Saints) second goal of the series. Switzer collected a rebound from a shot by Grieve and deked around Capobianco in front of the net for the goal.

It became 4-1 at 18:30 of the second when Grieve scored his 24^th of the season after taking a great cross-ice pass from Gensler.

But Canisius started its comeback with a goal from senior defenseman Ben Danford at 5:15, and got to within 4-3 on a power play goal by Ralph Cuddemi at 11:19. Shane Conacher then completed the stunning comeback with a goal at 15:15 to tie the score 4-4.

These same two teams will play the deciding game three at Ryan Arena Sunday night, with face-off set for 7:05 pm.
