With a 2-1 lead in the match and a 9-4 advantage in the fourth set, it looked like the Bentley University women’s volleyball team was well on its way towards advancing in the Northeast-10 Conference quarterfinals. However, Adelphi University had other ideas and went on to outscore the visiting Falcons 36-16 the rest of the night. That turnaround gave the third-seeded Panthers a five-set victory over sixth-seeded Bentley and likely ended the season for coach Sandy Hoffman’s club at 17-14.

Bentley University senior middle hitter Alaura Berry (San Diego, Calif./ Rancho Bernardo HS) has been named to the All-Northeast-10 Conference women’s volleyball first team, which was announced by the conference office Monday evening. Also earning All-Conference recognition, with a spot on the third team, is her classmate and teammate, senior setter Kelly Mee (Ivyland, Pa./Council Rock North HS).

Bentley University freshman Ashley Ahearn (Marshfield, Mass.) set a career-best with 16 kills, but it wasn’t enough as the Falcons dropped a 3-1 decision to the University of New Haven in Northeast-10 Conference women’s volleyball Wednesday night at Charger Gymnasium. Scores were 25-17, 27-15, 23-25 and 25-23.
