Bentley Volleyball Recruiting Class Includes Student-Athletes from 7 Different States

WALTHAM, Mass. -- Bentley University women's volleyball coach Sandy Hoffman has attracted student-athletes from seven different states for her 2011 recruiting class, which she announced today.

Joining the Bentley Falcons for the 2011 season will be Kelsey Buckner (San Marino, Calif.), Lauren Colasanti (Northville, Mich.), Savannah Dominguez (Miami, Fla.), Tatiana Froehlich (Newton), Emily Garcia (Gardnerville, Nev.), Jennifer Segar (Mendon, N.Y.), Simone Silvera (Bolingbrook, Ill.), Kaleigh Sullivan (Victor, N.Y.) and Alex Tator (Los Angeles, Calif.).

Buckner, a six-foot outside hitter, comes to Bentley from San Marino High School and the Club Troy volleyball club. She was the MVP of her high school team, as well as a team captain, and was also an All-League selection.

Colasanti, a five-foot-five libero, earned All-Region honors and was a team captain at Northville High School. She was named to the All-State Academic Team and plays for the Instant Replay Volleyball Club.

Dominguez, a product of Palmer-Trinity High School (the alma mater of former Falcon Andrea Farah), is a six-foot middle blocker who was named honorable mention All-County by the Miami Herald. A team captain, she also plays for the South Dade Volleyball Club.

Froehlich earned Division I All State honors and Boston Globe All-Scholastic accolades while playing for Newton North High School. The six-foot outside hitter plays for the SMASH volleyball club and is ranked first in the state in the discus.

Garcia, a five-foot-eleven middle blocker, helped Douglas High School to the Nevada Class 4A state championship and also plays for the Silver State Volleyball Club. Her list of honors also includes Class 4A All-Sierra League first team and Academic All-State.

Segar is a five-foot-nine outside hitter who earned third-team All-State honors while playing for Our Lady of Mercy High School in Rochester, N.Y. The member of the Paradigm Volleyball Club was a captain of the Mercy Monarchs, a first-team All-Greater Rochester selection and a New York State scholar-athlete. She also finished fourth in the 2010 18-U USA National Beach Championships.

Silvera is a five-foot-ten middle blocker who played for Bolingbrook High School, located in suburban Chicago, and the Illinois Performance Volleyball Club.  She was the captain and MVP of her high school team, and the recipient of an athletic academic award.

Sullivan, like Segar, is from the Rochester area. The six-foot outside hitter was an MVP and team captain at the Harley School, and she was an honorable mention All-Greater Rochester selection. She also plays for the Xtreme Volleyball Club.

Tator, a five-foot-eight setter, played for the Marlborough School in Los Angeles and the Santa Monica Beach Volleyball Club. She was a team MVP and captain while in high school.

Bentley, an NCAA Division II tournament participant in six of the last seven years, has five letterwinners back from last year's senior-laden 17-14 team.
