Bentley University senior running back Bobby Tarr (Byfield/Bishop Fenwick HS) has been selected for the 2012 Nason Award for Senior Achievement by the New England Football Writers. Tarr will be recognized on Thursday, Dec. 6 when the NEFW holds its annual Captains and Awards Banquet at the Montvale Plaza in Stoneham. The Nason Award has been presented annually since 1958 to the senior who has persevered against all odds to succeed in football.

Five members of the 8-2 Bentley University Falcons have been selected to the All-Northeast-10 Conference football first team, including repeat honoree and left tackle Nick Halloran (Somerville/BB&N School). Joining Halloran on the first team was sophomore wide receiver Jeff Hill (Mansfield/Mansfield HS) and three members of the Falcons’ nationally-ranked defense: junior linebacker Blaine Hopwood (New Bedford/New Bedford HS), senior defensive end Matt Campo (Dedham/Catholic Memorial HS) and senior safety Steve Hopkins (Waltham/Waltham HS).

Junior Danny Guadagnoli (Framingham/Framingham HS) threw three TD passes in the final 15:15, including a go-ahead 54-yard screen to senior tailback Bobby Tarr (Byfield/ Bishop Fenwick HS) midway through the fourth, as Bentley University scored 20 unanswered points to best visiting Assumption College, 20-13, Saturday afternoon at Bentley.

Junior linebacker AC Carter (Marlborough, Mass./Marlborough HS) recovered an errant snap in the end zone for a go-ahead touchdown with 8:50 left, and senior Bobby Tarr (Byfield, Mass./Bishop Fenwick HS) rushed for two TDs while eclipsing 2,000 yards for his career, as Bentley University topped Southern Connecticut State, 24-14, in Northeast-10 Conference football Saturday afternoon at Jess Dow Field.
