Lockwood Named to Capital One Academic All-District 1 Team

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University senior placekicker Will Lockwood (Menlo Park, Calif./ Sacred Heart Prep) has been voted to the 2012 Capital One NCAA Division II Academic All-District 1 team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Lockwood, who has earned a 3.44 grade point average as a corporate finance and accounting major, will advance to the national ballot for the Capital One Academic All-America teams.

Lockwood is second on the 7-2 Falcons in scoring with 51 points. He's converted seven of 12 field goals, including six of his last seven, and has been on target on 30 of 32 extra points. Three of his field goals came Oct. 20 against American International, including a season-best 44-yarder.

For his career, Lockwood has made 67 percent of his field goal attempts, 14 of 21, and 89 percent of his extra points, 64-72. The 14 field goals ranks third in Bentley varsity history, and he owns the Bentley varsity record for longest field goal, a 46-yarder against New Haven last October.

Lockwood, who didn't see any action during his first two years with the Falcons, is fourth amongst Northeast-10 kickers in points and tied for third in field goals, with the afore-mentioned 44-yarder the second longest in the conference this season. Last year, he was a member of the Academic All-Northeast-10 football team.

Bentley finishes its season Saturday at home against Assumption College.
