Bentley Places 3 on Academic All-Northeast-10 Football Team

WALTHAM, Mass. – For the fourth straight year, Bentley University had the most players selected for the Academic All-Northeast-10 Conference football team, with three Falcons earning a spot on the 2012 team.

Gaining All-Northeast-10 honors were junior quarterback Danny Guadagnoli (Framingham/ Framingham HS), senior cornerback Stephen Stewart (Wilmington/Wilmington HS) and senior place kicker Will Lockwood (Menlo Park, Calif./Sacred Heart Prep).

Guadagnoli, owner of a 3.77 grade point average as an economics-finance major, quarterbacked the Falcons to an 8-2 season in his first year as a starter. He completed 62 percent of his passes for 2,344 yards, 16 touchdowns and only seven interceptions. In addition, he ran for 228 yards and three scores.

Vice president of Bentley's Economics-Finance Society, Guadagnoli ranked second in the NE-10 in completion percentage, third in passing yards and total offense and fifth in TD passes.

Stewart finished his final season with three interceptions, tying for fifth in the NE-10 in that category, and 31 tackles, including 17 solo stops. His interceptions came against New Haven, Merrimack and Assumption, and gave him a total of five for his career. In the classroom, Stewart has amassed a 3.33 GPA as an economics-finance major.

Lockwood, previously named to the Capital One NCAA Division II Academic All-District team, was fourth in the NE-10 in points by kicking and field goals. An Academic All-NE-10 pick for the second time, he finished the season with seven field goals and 32 point after kicks in 35 attempts, for a total of 53 points. For his career, he scored 108 points with 66 PAT and 14 field goals in 21 attempts, a 67 percent success rate. Lockwood, a five-time Dean's List member, had a 3.40 GPA as a corporate finance and accounting major.
