Five Score in Doubles as Bentley Rolls to 103-59 Exhibition Win over St. Francis Xavier

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University used a 28-10 run over the final 11 minutes of the first half to open a 52-31 lead and went on to record a 103-59 win over St. Francis Xavier University (Canada) in exhibition men's basketball at the Dana Center Saturday night.

Junior forward Tyler McFarland (Rockport, Maine/Camden Hills HS) and senior forward Andrew Shaw (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy) powered the Falcons in scoring, finishing with 16 and 14 points, respectively. McFarland, seven of ten from the field, achieved his 16 in only 16 minutes of action and Shaw hit five of seven shots, with a pair of triples, during his 17 minutes on the court.

Joining that frontcourt duo in doubles were sophomore guard Ferguson Duke (Dartmouth, N.S./ Hun School (N.J.)), junior guard Alex Furness (Wells, Maine/Wells HS) and junior forward Shaq Phelps (Linden, N.J./Linden HS). Duke netted a dozen off the bench and the other scored 11, with Phelps' line also including five rebounds and two steals.

Bentley's top rebounder was senior guard Keegan Hyland (South Portland, Maine/South Portland HS), with seven to go along with his nine points.

Bentley, which topped the century mark for the second straight exhibition game, outshot the X-Men 56-36 percent, doubled the visitors in free throws made (26-13) during a foul-plagued contest (51 total) and were a plus-12 in rebounds, 45-33.

The Falcons capitalized on turnovers all night, finishing with a 32-3 domination in points off. Bentley finished with 11 turns while St. Francis Xavier gave it away 21 times.

X-Men guard Julius Antoine (Woodbridge, Ont.) led all scorers with 17 points and he was also his team's top rebounder with six.

Bentley, following a pair of exhibition wins, will open its regular season Nov. 14 against nationally-ranked Philadelphia University in the Bentley Tip-Off Classic.
