Cross Country Teams Set to Run at New Englands on Saturday

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley cross country teams will compete at the NEICAAA Cross Country Championships on Saturday at Franklin Park in Boston for their third meet of the season.

Both teams will go into the meet in the top-10 of the USTFCCCA East Region rankings, with the men at No. 7 and the women at No. 8.

Both teams started the season on Labor Day Weekend at the Suffolk Short Course Classic. The men's team finished 5th overall and was paced by Cole Duval with a time of 16:02.2. That performance saw him named the Northeast-10 Athlete of the Week on Sept. 5.

Sam Capobianco (16:11.8) and Matthew Sebastyn (16:55.4) also ran well at Suffolk.

On September 17 at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational, the men's team was led by Sam Capobianco with a time of 25:20.9 in the 8K race.

On the women's side Caitlin Burmester has been the team's top finished at both Suffolk (11:23.3) in a 3K and UMass Dartmouth (12:22.9) in a 5K.

As a team the Falcons were 7th at Suffolk and 11th of 37 at UMass Dartmouth.

Freshman Molly Capece was Bentley's next finisher at both races.

Following Saturday's race, the teams will begin to prepare for the Northeast-10 Championships on Oct. 22 at Stanley Park in Westfield, Mass.
