Bentley Stays Unbeaten in Northeast-10 with 3-0 Win over St. Michael’s

WALTHAM, Mass. – A dozen service aces and a season-best .362 hitting percentage powered Bentley University to a 3-0 sweep of St. Michael's College in Northeast-10 Conference women's volleyball Saturday at the Dana Center. The scores were 25-18, 25-19 and 25-14.

Bentley, with its sixth consecutive victory, remained at the top of the conference standings with a 5-0 NE10 record. The Falcons are 14-4 overall, including 9-1 in the last ten matches. St. Michael's, held to an .082 hitting percentage, dropped to 1-11 overall and 0-3 NE10.

Seven different Falcons recorded at least one ace with junior Ellie Wheeler (Olathe, Kans./Saint James Academy) leading the way with three. The Falcons also received two apiece from sophomore Jazzy Burke (Lake George, N.Y./Lake George Central HS) and juniors Angie Grabmeier (Hopkinton/Hopkinton HS) and Natalie Thom (Okemos, Mich./Okemos HS).

Bentley spread the kills around with eight players making at least three. Senior Ingrid Murphy (Cotuit/Barnstable HS) hit .444 with nine kills. Junior Caitlin Wunder (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan Academy) and sophomore Rachel Vitko (Dover, N.H./Dover HS) each followed with six, with Wunder hitting .600.

Each set had a different Falcon leading the way in hitting. Murphy had six in the first, Wheeler five in the second and Wunder four in the third.

Grabmeier led the team in assists (17)  and Burke had a match-high 12 digs.

Bentley will play its third home match in four days on Monday evening with the University of Bridgeport providing the opposition.
