Parker’s 2nd Triple-Double & Wunder's 4 5th-Set Kills Help Bentley Outlast SNHU, 3-2

WALTHAM, Mass. – Graduate student Amanda Parker (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North HS) recorded her fifth double-double of the season and six-four junior Caitlin Wunder (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan Academy) put down four of her 12 kills in the final set as Bentley University outlasted Southern New Hampshire University 3-2 in Northeast-10 Conference women's volleyball Tuesday night at the Dana Center.

Parker amassed 11 kills, 25 assists, 17 digs and four blocks during the lengthy 25-23, 25-21, 29-31, 20-25, 15-6 victory.

After capturing the first two sets, Bentley had four match points in the third before the Penmen claimed the marathon set by scoring the final three points. Southern New Hampshire evened the match after having its best hitting set in the fourth (.306).

The Falcons, who hadn't won a five-setter since the 2019 NE10 championship game, dominated the fifth, jumping out to an 11-2 lead. In addition to four kills in five sets by Wunder, Parker had two kills and three assists. In addition, junior Angie Grabmeier (Hopkinton/Hopkinton HS) served three aces.

Senior Ingrid Murphy (Cotuit/Barnstable HS) led Bentley (10-4, 2-0 NE10) in kills with 14 and also contributed 19 digs. The list of four Falcons with double-figure kills also included graduate student Katie Rounds (McFarland, Wis./McFarland HS), who hit .526 with ten kills in 19 swings. Rounds also was involved in three blocks.

For 6-3 SNHU, junior Ana Pimental (Rio de Janiero, Brazil) had 16 kills and three of her team's 11 aces.

Bentley outhit the visitors .218-.131, but the Penmen had the advantage in digs (93-84), blocks (10-6) and aces (11-8).

The next match for the Falcons is Friday at 6 pm at Saint Anselm College.
