Bentley's 2021 Volleyball Captains

Murphy, Parker & Rounds Named Bentley Volleyball Captains

WALTHAM, Mass. – Seniors Amanda Parker (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North HS) and Katie Rounds (McFarland, Wis./McFarland HS), along with junior Ingrid Murphy (Cotuit/Barnstable HS), have been named captains of the 2021 Bentley University women's volleyball team, head coach Joey Pacis announced.

"I am excited to start this volleyball season with Amanda, Katie and Ingrid as our team-elected captains," said Pacis, who is beginning his eighth season at the helm. "They all represent our program in a positive and mature manner, and each bring their own valuable intangibles to the team.  Amanda's organization skills, Katie's commitment to our Core Values and Ingrid's solution-minded approach to challenges will push our squad to be their best, both physically and mentally."

Parker appeared in 42 matches during her first two seasons before Bentley's 2020 season was cancelled due to the pandemic. She was most productive as a freshman when she averaged 1.42 kills and 2.41 digs. She spent most of her sophomore year at setter and gave the Falcons 185 assists in 14 matches while backing up the Northeast-10's Setter of the Year.

Rounds, a six-foot middle blocker, appeared in 17 matches in each of her first two seasons and started a total of ten matches. As a sophomore, she hit .318 while averaging 1.46 kills and 0.76 blocks. Her season-bests included nine kills against St. Michael's, four blocks at Saint Anselm and a .467 hitting percentage against Southern Connecticut State.

Murphy, an outside hitter and defensive specialist, had a standout freshman season in 2019, earning Northeast-10 Rookie of the Year honors as well as honorable mention AVCA Division II All-East Region recognition. She started 29 of the team's 32 matches and was second on the team in kills (253) and digs (331). Murphy recorded double-figure kills in nine of the last 11 matches.

Bentley, 26-6 in 2019, opens the season Friday and Saturday at Oklahoma Christian's Eagle Invitational Volleyball Festival.
