On This Day, 2019: Milner & Murphy Combine for 29 Kills as Bentley Locks Up Northeast-10 Championship

On November 15, 2019, senior Dani Milner celebrated Senior Day with 16 kills and freshman Ingrid Murphy added 13 as the Bentley Falcons wrapped up their first outright Northeast-10 Conference regular season volleyball championship since 2005 with a three-set sweep of Pace at the Dana Center. Scores were 25-22, 25-15 and 25-19.

Bentley, which had a share of the title in 2014, closed out the regular season at 23-5 overall and 12-1 NE10. It was the Falcons' most wins since the 2007 squad was 24-10.

Milner and Murphy both had very good hitting nights, as did sophomore Shannon Ngo. All three finished over .400 with Milner hitting .483, Ngo .467 with seven kills in 15 swings and Murphy .414.

The opening set was even at 20 before the Falcons finished strong and the second was also relatively close throughout most of it. The Falcons pulled away late with a 11-3 burst to close.

In the third, Bentley was looking at a 14-7 deficit. Murphy put down three straight kills during an 8-0 burst that grew into a match-ending 18-5 spurt.

Also in double figures in kills for Bentley was senior co-captain Mariana Boyer, with 11.

Senior setter Xio Lopp finished with 37 assists and 13 digs.
