On This Day, 2019: 7-0 Run to End 5th Gives Bentley 7th Straight Win

On October 1, 2019, the Bentley University Falcons closed with seven unanswered points to defeat Saint Anselm College in Northeast-10 women's volleyball in Manchester, N.H. and extend their winning streak to seven matches. The Falcons, who trailed the final set 11-8 before the strong finish, took the match by scores of 25-21, 27-25, 23-25, 16-25 and 15-11.

Five Falcons put up double-doubles for Bentley, including senior co-captain Rachel Bruno, who hit .600 with 12 kills and no errors in 20 swings and also made a career-high 11 digs.

Bentley, which had dropped the previous two sets after winning the first two, drew even with the Hawks (9-7, 1-1 NE10) with a Saint Anselm attack error, a shared block by Bruno and senior Dani Milner and a Hawk service error.

The run continued with another attack error by the home team, kills by Milner and senior setter Xio Lopp and the Hawks' ninth attack error of the final set.

Three straight points, including kills from Milner and Bruno, erased a 25-24 deficit and gave Bentley a 27-25 set two win and its 20th consecutive set win. That streak ended when Saint Anselm pulled out a close win in the third set.

Milner led Bentley (12-4, 2-0 NE10) in kills with a season-high 15 and also provided the Falcons with 13 digs and two blocks.

Also providing double-doubles were Lopp, senior co-captain Emily Barthelmes and junior Kirsten Segaline. Lopp finished with 32 assists, 16 digs and three blocks, and Barthelmes recorded 19 digs and 11 assists. Segaline's sixth double-double included 11 kills, 16 digs and two aces.
