Southern New Hampshire Ends Bentley’s Win Streak at 6

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Bentley University's six-match winning streak came to an abrupt halt when the Falcons were swept by Southern New Hampshire in three sets Tuesday night in Northeast-10 Conference women's volleyball at the SNHU Field House. Scores were 28-26, 25-23 and 25-18.

The loss was Bentley's first in conference play this season and dropped the Falcons to 5-1 NE-10 and 8-12 overall.  SNHU improved to 3-4 conference and 5-14 overall.

The first two sets could have gone either way before the Penmen led the third set from the opening point.  Bentley couldn't finish the opening set after leading 23-19, and the Falcons battled back to get within one in the second, 24-23, before giving up the final point. Each one, Bentley started fast, leading the first 5-0 and the second 8-2.

Freshman setter Joanne Coffey (Merrimack, N.H.) was instrumental in the Penmen victory as she amassed 35 assists, ten digs, four kills and half of her team's eight aces. Senior Victoria Wehrmann (Dallas, Texas) led Southern New Hampshire with 11 kills, one more than classmate Megan Salamun (Scottsdale, Ariz.).

For Bentley, senior Lauren Van Buren (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Massapequa HS) recorded an 11-kill, 10-dig double-double and freshman Caitlin Corcoran (Trappe, Pa./Perkiomen Valley HS) hit .500 with seven kills.  Junior libero Celia  Cristofoli (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson HS) helped out with 18 digs for the Falcons.

Bentley will look to bounce back this weekend with road matches at Adelphi University Friday and Pace University Saturday.
