Kelly & Buscher Combine for 30 Kills as Bentley Wins 8th Straight, 3-0 over Assumption

                WALTHAM, Mass. – Sophomore Shannon Kelly (Hyde Park, N.Y./Franklin D. Roosevelt HS) had a career-high 17 kills, senior Jaci Buscher (Lakewood, Colo./Green Mountain HS) registered her fourth double-double of the season and the Falcons combined for a season-high 13 aces as Bentley University extended its winning streak to eight with a 3-0 Northeast-10 Conference victory in women's volleyball action at the Dana Center Tuesday evening.

The 25-19, 25-23, 25-15 victory lifted Bentley to 9-4 overall and 2-0 in the Northeast-10 while giving the Falcons their first eight-match win streak since 2007.

In the opening set, the Falcons seized control with an 8-1 spurt after trailing 16-13, the run including two aces from sophomore Celia Cristofoli (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson HS). She had a total of four, giving her a dozen in the team's last three matches.

After the Greyhounds (4-9, 1-2 NE-10) closed within two points, Bentley picked up the set's final four, two on Buscher kills and the last one on an ace from sophomore Isabella Perez (Lafayette, Calif./ Carondelet HS).

Bentley closed the second set with three unanswered points after trailing 23-22. Buscher evened it with a kill, the Falcons took the lead on an attack error and a kill by freshman Krista Campbell (Newtown, Pa./Council Rocks North HS) gave the home team a 2-0 lead in the match.

In the third, senior libero Jessica Segal (West Harrison, N.Y./Harrison HS) served three aces during an 8-0 burst that produced a commanding 17-5 lead.

Eight of Kelly's kills came in the second set and her night also included seven digs, a block and an ace. Buscher followed with 13 kills while hitting .367, and also registered ten digs.

Segal, who had ten digs, matched Cristofoli's four aces and Perez followed with three. Campbell provided 27 assists and seven digs from her setter position.

For Assumption, freshman Kellie Smith (Richland, Mich.) finished with ten kills and 13 digs.

Bentley is in action twice this weekend, following a Friday night match at Bridgeport with a Saturday matinee against Franklin Pierce.
