Bentley Concludes Play in Oredigger Classic with Losses to MSU-Moorhead & #18 Colorado Mines

GOLDEN, Colo. – The Bentley University women's volleyball team concluded play in the season-opening Courtyard and Residence Inn by Marriott Oredigger Classic by falling to Minnesota State-Moorhead and nationally-ranked Colorado School of Mines, both in three sets, Saturday at Colorado Mines' Lockridge Arena.

The scores against Moorhead were 25-11, 25-13 and 25-15 while Mines, ranked 18th in Division II preseason, prevailed 25-20, 25-16 and 20-8.

Against the Moorhead Dragons, senior setter Alex Tator (Los Angeles, Calif./Marlborough School) recorded assists on 16 of Bentley's 19 kills. Senior Tatiana Froehlich (Newton/Newton North HS) led the Falcons with five kills and junior Jaci Buscher (Lakewood, Colo./Green Mountain HS) followed with four.

The junior duo of Kaitlin VanWinkle (Farmington, Minn.) and Abby Wolpern (Belle Plaine, Minn.) combined for 25 kills and only two errors to lead the Dragons. VanWinkle hit .583 with 15 kills and six blocks, and Wolpern hit .692 with ten kills.

In the Colorado Mines match, junior Stephanie Metzger (Georgetown, Texas/Liberty Hill HS) registered seven kills for the Falcons and senior Kaleigh Sullivan (Naples, Fla./Harley School (N.Y.)) had five. Tator delivered 18 assists and senior libero Lauren Colasanti (Northville, Mich./Northville HS) made 13 digs.

Freshman Mattie Behr (Cypress, Texas) powered the Orediggers with 12 kills, six blocks and a .391 hitting percentage.

Bentley, 0-4, will return east to compete in the Wilmington (Del.) Invitational next Friday and Saturday.
