Tator & Froehlich Establish Career-Highs as Bentley Tops St. Michael's; 750th Career Win for Hoffman

WALTHAM, Mass. – Junior setter Alex Tator (Los Angeles, Calif./Marlborough School) and junior outside hitter Tatiana Froehlich (Newton/Newton North HS) each established a new career high as Bentley University stretched its winning streak to six with a 3-1 win over St. Michael's College in Northeast-10 Conference women's volleyball Sunday afternoon at the Dana Center.

The victory was the 750th for Bentley coach Sandy Hoffman as she became just the 26th coach in NCAA women's volleyball history to reach that milestone, and the first in New England history. Earlier this week, she moved to number four on the all-time Division II win list.

In the 25-15, 25-27, 25-15, 25-18 win, Tator came within one of her first career 50-assist match and complemented her 49 assists with ten digs, three kills and two aces. Froehlich finished with 13 kills, bettering her previous best by one, and sharing the team-high with junior middle blocker Savannah Dominguez (Miami, Fla./Palmer Trinity HS).

Bentley started and finished the opening set in impressive fashion, grabbing the early lead with a 7-1 spurt and closing with seven unanswered points after the Purple Knights closed within three.  After the visitors claimed the second set, the Falcons regained control in the third behind six kills from Froehlich and 15 assists by Tator.

The fourth set was even at 18 before Bentley locked up the win with seven straight markers, a run that included three kills by junior Kaleigh Sullivan (Naples, Fla./Harley School, N.Y.) and was finished with the fourth ace of the afternoon from junior Lauren Colasanti (Northville, Mich./Northville HS). Colasanti also had 27 digs, the second highest total of her career.

Bentley's season-high 61 kills also included eight apiece by Sullivan and senior Ashley Ahearn (Marshfield/Marshfield HS) and seven from both sophomore Jaci Buscher (Lakewood, Colo./Rocky Mountain HS) and Emily Garcia (Gardnerville, Nev./Douglas HS).

Sophomore Kelsey Flaherty (Cold Spring, N.Y.)  led St. Michael's (7-4, 0-2 NE-10) with 14 kills.

With its sixth straight win, Bentley improved to 9-4 overall and a conference-best 3-0. Next up for the Falcons is a Wednesday night match at Franklin Pierce University.
