Tator & Dominguez Help Lead Team Effort as Bentley Volleyball Wins Twice

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Junior setter Alex Tator (Los Angeles, Calif./Marlborough School) averaged 9.83 assists, 1.5 digs and one kill and junior middle blocker Savannah Dominguez (Miami, Fla./Palmer Trinity HS) hit .417 as the Bentley University women's volleyball team notched a pair of 3-0 sweeps during a triangular Saturday at Saint Anselm College's Stoutenburgh Gym.

The Falcons began the day with their second straight win over a team from Florida, taking down previously 10-2 Lynn University 25-21, 25-22 and 25-21. That was followed by a straight set victory over the host institution with Bentley prevailing 25-20, 25-21 and 25-18.

Against Lynn, Bentley closed with a 7-1 surge in the opening set and never trailed again in the match. The comeback from a 20-18 deficit included four Tator assists, a kill and an ace from sophomore Jaci Buscher (Lakewood, Colo./Green Mountain HS) and a set-ending kill by Dominguez.

Dominguez and Buscher each had eight kills against the Fighting Knights, and junior Tatiana Froehlich (Newton/Newton North HS) followed with seven, along with three blocks. Tator's 30 assists included 14 in the third set, and Buscher had a team-best 17 digs, one more than junior libero Lauren Colasanti (Northville, Mich./Northville HS).

Four different Falcons had at least five kills in the Saint Anselm victory, with Dominguez (9, with a .500 hitting percentage) and Froehlich (8) at the top of the list. Froehlich helped spark the Falcons in the opening set, with five kills in seven swings, including one during a 5-0 run after the two clubs were tied at 20.

Tator had 29 assists, four digs and four kills against the Hawks, and Colasanti recorded her second straight 16-dig performance.

First-year assistant coach Joey Pacis, a former head coach at Merrimack College, directed the Falcons to the two wins while filling in for head coach Sandy Hoffman. The victories gave Hoffman 747 for her career, tying her for fourth on the all-time Division II win list with former Florida Southern coach Lois Webb.

Bentley, 6-4 overall with a three-match winning streak, begins its Northeast-10 schedule Wednesday night at Southern Connecticut State.
