Hoffman Selected for AVCA Hall of Fame

Long-time Bentley University women’s volleyball coach Sandy Hoffman has been selected for the American Volleyball Coaches Association Hall of Fame, the organization announced Thursday. Hoffman and the remainder of the AVCA Class of 2014 will be honored during the AVCA National Convention in Oklahoma City in December.
Hoffman & Dig Lavender Campaign to be Featured on CBS Sports Network Saturday

Bentley University women’s volleyball coach Sandy Hoffman and the Dig Lavender campaign to raise money for rare cancer research will be featured on CBS Sports Network Saturday at halftime of the Saint Anselm-Southern New Hampshire men’s basketball game, the NCAA Division II Game of the Week.

Bentley Volleyball Presents Over $20,000 to Dana Farber from Dig Lavender Campaign

This fall, the Bentley University women’s volleyball team held a “Dig Lavender” campaign to raise funds for rare cancer research. Lavender is the color of the ribbon representing all cancers that don’t have their own. Head Coach Sandy Hoffman was diagnosed with Adrenal Cortical Carcinoma, one of the world’s rarest cancers, and has been treated at Dana Farber/Brigham and Women’s Cancer Institute for the past year. On December 6th, the team went to the institute in Boston to present checks for over $20,000!

After dropping the first two sets, sixth-seeded Stonehill College battled back to take the next three, including a 15-12 decision in the decisive fifth, to upset third-seeded Bentley University, 3-2, in the quarterfinals of the 2013 Northeast-10 Conference Women’s Volleyball Championships Tuesday night at the Dana Center.

Junior middle blocker Savannah Dominguez (Miami, Fla./Palmer Trinity HS), the Northeast-10 Conference leader in hitting percentage, had another impressive outing as she hit .480 with 16 kills to power Bentley University to a three-set sweep of Le Moyne College in women’s college volleyball Saturday afternoon at Ted Grant Court. The scores were 25-22, 25-20 and 25-15.

The Bentley University Falcons denied the College of Saint Rose match point four times in the decisive fifth set, but couldn’t do it a fifth time as the Golden Knights prevailed 20-18 to take a 3-2 decision from the visiting Falcons in Northeast-10 Conference women’s volleyball Friday night at the Nolan Gymnasium.
