Bentley Uses Balanced Hitting Attack to Top Le Moyne, 3-1

WALTHAM, Mass. – Four different players recorded at least 10 kills, with that quartet combining for a .346 hitting percentage, as Bentley University posted a four-set win over Le Moyne College in Northeast-10 Conference women's volleyball Saturday afternoon at the Dana Center. Scores were 25-22, 19-25, 25-13 and 25-17.

Sophomore Kelsey Buckner (San Marino, Calif./San Marino HS) led the balanced attack with her sixth double-double of the season, 13 kills and 15 digs. She hit .294 and also served three aces in a solid all-around effort.

Classmate Tatiana Froehlich (Newton/Newton North HS) hit .310 with a dozen kills, and Bentley also received ten kills apiece from sophomore Savannah Dominguez (Miami, Fla./Palmer Trinity HS) and senior Grace Conner (Santa Barbara, Calif./San Marcos HS). Dominguez hit .529 and also helped defensively with seven digs and three blocks, and Conner had a success rate of .333.

Also contributing to the win were sophomore libero Lauren Colasanti (Northville, Mich./ Northville HS) and freshmen Kyana Miller (San Diego, Calif./Canyon Crest Acad.) and Jessica Segal (West Harrison, N.Y./Harrison HS). Miller finished with 43 assists and eight digs, Colasanti had a team-best 15 digs, and Segal served five aces, a career-best and matching the most by a Falcon this season.

The turning point of the match may have come in the opening set as the Falcons started slow and fell behind 18-11. A kill by Buckner, one of four she had in the set, ignited a 14-4 ending spurt, one that featured aces served by sophomore Alex Tator (Los Angeles, Calif./Marlborough School), Buckner, Miller and Segal.

After dropping the second set, Bentley came back strong in the third, jumping out to a 13-5 lead and stretching that to 20-9. In the fourth, the Falcons picked up eight of the first ten points and broke it wide open by running off ten straight points for a commanding 20-5 advantage.

Bentley (9-15, 4-5 NE-10) concludes a three-game homestand Tuesday against Merrimack College (7:30 pm).
