PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Freshmen Kelsey Buckner (San Marino, Calif./San Marino HS) and Alex Tator (Los Angeles, Calif./Marlborough School) both turned in strong performances to help Bentley University to a 3-1 win over the University of the Sciences Saturday morning at Sciences' Morgan Arena.
Bentley's bid to reach .500 was denied later in the day with the Falcons dropping a four-setter to Wilmington College (Del.).
Against USciences, Buckner had a career-best 14 kills and hit .290 in the 25-17, 17-25, 25-16, 25-21 victory. Tator, from the setter position, registered her second straight double-double with a season-best 36 assists and a dozen digs.
Savannah Dominguez (Miami, Fla./Palmer-Trinity School), also a freshman, followed with 10 kills and five blocks, and yet another first-year player, Lauren Colasanti (Northville, Mich./Northville HS) also had a solid effort. She provided four aces and 20 digs, matching her collegiate best.
Amanda DeAngelo led USciences with 14 kills and ten digs.
Dominguez had a team-best 10 kills, four blocks and a .318 hitting percentage in the 25-21, 25-19, 19-25, 25-15 loss to 3-3 Wilmington. Tator amassed 29 assists and Colasanti made 17 digs.
