Hurwitz Captures Long Jump During George Davis Invitational

LOWELL, Mass. – Bentley University senior Sydney Hurwitz (Newton/Newton North HS) finished first in the long jump to lead the Falcon women's track and field team during Saturday's George Davis Invitational, a predominantly Division I meet hosted by UMass-Lowell.

In a field of 28, Hurwitz cleared 18 feet, 4.5 inches to defeat Northeastern's Jillian Lombardi by 4.5 inches. Also in the same event, freshmen Luci Ambroult (Holbrook/Holbrook HS) and Angie Grabmeier (Hopkinton/ Hopkinton HS) were 13th and 18th, respectively. Ambroult posted a 16'5.25" and Grabmeier's jump was good for 15'7.75".

Hurwitz's day also included two other top-eight finishes. She was fourth of 23 in the 200 meters (26.69 seconds) and eighth of 22 in the 100 meter hurdles (15.60).

Ambroult sprinted to a pair of top-six finishes. She was fifth in the 200, with time of 27.16 seconds a personal best by 0.37, and sixth in the 100 meters with a clocking of 13.15.

In her collegiate debut, freshman Hannah Greene (Weston, Conn./Weston HS) was fourth of 15 in the high jump with her height of 5'0.25" elevating her to fourth on the program's all-time list.

Junior Chase Davies (Marblehead/Marblehead HS) was 10th of 22 in the 100 hurdles with her 15.65 time strengthening her hold on third place on Bentley's all-time list and putting her fifth on the season's Northeast-10 Conference list.

Matching that finish was junior Samantha Bilodeau (New Ipswich, N.H./Mascenic Reg. HS) with a time of 10:59.12 in the 3,000.

Grabmeier, in addition to her performance in the long jump, was seventh of 22 in the triple jump (35'5").

On Friday, Bentley will be at Merrimack for a quadrangular meet with Saint Anselm and Stonehill.
