Hurwitz Breaks School Record in 100 Hurdles at Stonehill

During a dual meet at Stonehill College Sunday afternoon, Bentley University senior Sydney Hurwitz (Newton/Newton North HS) broke a 13-year-old school record in the 100 meter hurdles while also impressing in the 200 meters and the long jump.

Hurwitz, second of seven in the hurdles, finished in 15.45 seconds, breaking the mark that had been owned by Corinne Flieger since 2008 by four-hundredths of a second. It was the third best time recorded in the Northeast-10 Conference this season.

In the long jump, Hurwitz cleared 18 feet, 7.25 inches to take first among six competitors. She bettered her previous best by a foot, climbed to number two on Bentley's all-time performance list and moved to number one on this year's conference list.

Hurwitz was also first of ten in the 200 meters, with her 26.66 second time a personal best by 1.06 seconds and 11th best in program history.

Freshman Lucy Ambroult (Holbrook/Holbrook HS) had a strong showing during her collegiate debut. She was first in the 100 meters with her 13.02 good for sixth on Bentley's all-time list, third of ten in the 200 (27.63) and second of six in the long jump (17'2"). Her long jump performance also ranked sixth all-time at Bentley and moved her to fourth on the NE10 performance list.

Also in the 100 hurdles, junior Chase Davies (Marblehead/Marblehead HS) moved to fifth on the NE10 list with her 15.93 good for third among seven runners. She cleared 16'5.75" in the long jump, placing fourth of six in the meet and climbing to eighth on Bentley's all-time list.

Freshman Angie Grabmeier (Hopkinton/Hopkinton HS) took first place in the triple jump (36'1.25") and third in the long jump (16'8.75"). That put her fourth on Bentley's list in the triple and seventh in the long, as well as third and fifth, respectively, on the NE10 performance list.

The next meet for Bentley is the George Davis Invitational at UMass-Lowell Friday and Saturday.
