Mattson Continues to Impress for Bentley

MEDFORD, Mass. – Bentley University sophomore Stephanie Mattson (Smithfield, R.I./ Smithfield HS) had the highest finish for a member of the Falcon women's outdoor track and field team and achieved a pair of new personal bests during Saturday's Tufts Snowflake Classic at rainy Dussault Track.

Mattson was second of 30 in the long jump, clearing 17 feet, 2.25 inches to move to second on the season's Northeast-10 Conference performance list and fourth on Bentley's all-time list. She finished only an inch-and-a quarter back of Dartmouth's Kayla Gilding. Also in the long jump, Falcon sophomore Courtney Wilson (Morrisonville, N.Y./Beekmantown Central HS) took ninth, clearing 15'6".

Mattson also finished eighth of 26 in the 400 meters, her time of 1:02.03 a PR by 0.81 seconds and eighth best in the NE-10 so far this spring.

In addition, Mattson was part of the Falcons' 4x100 relay that was sixth in 54.47 seconds. That relay included senior Olyvia Leahy (New Bedford/New Bedford HS), sophomore Monica Levy (Merrick, N.Y./Calhoun HS) and Wilson.

Leahy ran the 110 hurdles in 17.39 seconds to finish 11th of 25 and move to ninth on the NE-10 list.

Senior Samantha Albanese (Lynnfield/Lynnfield HS), the school record holder in the steeplechase, made her 2016 debut in the event and finished fifth in 12:27.83.

In the team standings, Bentley was 11 of 15 with 16 points.

Next up for the Falcons will be the American International Invitational next Saturday in Springfield.
