Dooley Named USTFCCCA All-Academic for 3rd Time; Bentley Men Post Division II’s 2nd Highest GPA

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University track and cross country standout Tara Dooley (Lee/Lee HS) has received 2015 USTFCCCA Division II All-Academic honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for her combined academic and athletic accomplishments.

In order to qualify for All-Academic honors, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have achieved a provisional or automatic qualifying standard for the NCAA Championships, either indoors or out.

Dooley provisionally qualified for the indoor 5,000 meters during the New England Indoor Championships in February with her time of 17:15.61 a school record by about five seconds and the second best in the East Region this past season. She finished fifth overall in the event to earn All-New England honors for the fourth time, with her previous three citations coming in cross country.

Dooley, a 2013 cross country All-America and a 2014 Capital One Academic All-America, earned All-Region honors twice indoors, in both the 3,000 and 5,000, before missing most of the outdoor season due to injury.

Dooley, who graduated Summa Cum Laude in May, plans to return for her final year of eligibility this coming year.

Both the Bentley men and women's track and field teams earned Team All-Academic honors from the USTFCCCA with the men's 3.43 GPA second best nationally amongst Division II programs. Coach Kevin Curtin's women's team also had a strong year in the classroom, recording a 3.36.

Bentley was one of just nine East Region institutions to have both teams earn All-Academic recognition. It's the the fifth straight year both the Falcon men and women were honored.
