Bentley Falls in NE10 Quarterfinals to Franklin Pierce 4-0

Nashua, N.H. – Top seed Franklin Pierce advanced to the semifinals of the Northeast-10 Women's Tennis Championships with a 4-0 victory over Bentley University on Wednesday in the quarterfinal round.

The Ravens, who went undefeated in the regular season, improved to 10-0. The Falcons, No. 8 seed, had advanced to the quarterfinals by sweeping Saint Anselm 4-0 in the first round on Sunday.

Franklin Pierce claimed the doubles point by winning the No. 1 and No. 2 matches.

Bentley's pairings in doubles were freshman Adriana Hiraldo (San Juan, Puerto Rico) and junior Alessa Matuty (San Pedro Sula, Honduras) in No. 1, sophomore Makena Romagnano (New Albany, Ohio/New Albany) and freshman Anna Lang (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) in No. 2. Sophomore Zoe Chin (Lexington, Mass./Lexington) and freshman Remi LeSage (Sarasota, Fla./IMG) played in the No. 3.

In singles, the Ravens won the No. 1, No. 4 and No. 5 matches to clinch the match. No. 1 was contested between Hiraldo and Franklin Pierce's Maria Aguilo. The No. 4 match was between LeSage and FPU's Zoe Asterio Correa. And the No. 5 match was between Chin and Estela Carra.

Romagnano took the court for Bentley in the No. 2 match, Matuty in No. 3 and freshman Libby Keefe (Lowell, Mass./Lowell Catholic) was in the No. 6 match.

Franklin Pierce will meet Le Moyne in the semifinals on Friday, after Le Moyne defeated Southern N.H. in the quarterfinals today. The other semifinal on Friday will be between Stonehill and Adelphi.
