Bentley Tops Immaculata 5-2 in Final Florida Match

Winter Park, Fla. – The Bentley women's tennis team won the final match of its Florida trip on Thursday, with a 5-2 victory over Immaculata.

The Falcons won the doubles point with wins in the No. 1 and No. 3 matches. They then won four of six in singles play to clinch the match.

In the No. 1 doubles match, it was the team of Alessa Matuty (San Pedro Sula, Honduras) and Makena Romagnano (New Albany, Ohio/New Albany) defeating Annamarie Degnan and Morgan Jacob, 6-3. The No. 3 doubles match saw Miruna Constantin (Ploiesti, Romania) and Cindy Luo (Stamford, Conn./Stamford) defeat Jessica Dougherty and Kelly O'Brien, 7-6. Freshmen Grace Bennett (Paxton, Mass./Wachusett) and Zoe Chin (Lexington, Mass./Lexington) competed in the No. 2 match for Bentley.

In singles, Romagnano picked up her second win of the day with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Jacob in the No. 2 position. In the No. 3 singles match, Chin picked up a 6-2, 6-4 win for Bentley over Degnan.

Sophomore Alyssa Cook (New Castle, N.H./Portsmouth) earned a 7-5, 6-3 victory in the No. 4 match over Elizabeth Lipscomb, and in the No. 6 match freshman Anna Higgins (Andover, Mass./Andover) was a 6-4, 6-2 winner over O'Brien.

Matuty, the most recent NE10 Player of the Week, competed in the No. 1 match for the Falcons and Luo competed in the No. 5 match.

The win improved Bentley's record to 2-1 on its Florida trip.
