Bentley Makes it 2-0 Start to Season with 5-2 Win over AIC
Waltham, Mass. – Bentley women's tennis made it a 2-0 start to the 2019-20 season with a 5-2 win over American International on Saturday, in the first NE10 match of the season for both teams.
Bentley won the doubles point with victories in the No. 2 and No. 3 matches. The Falcons then closed it out in singles by winning four of six matches, the No. 3-No. 6 matches.
Anna Higgins (Andover, Mass./Andover), Grace Bennett (Paxton, Mass./Wachusett) and Alyssa Cook (New Castle, N.H./Portsmouth) each won in both singles and doubles on the day to help Bentley to the victory.
Higgins and Cindy Luo (Stamford, Conn./Stamford) teamed for a 7-5 win in No. 2 doubles, and Bennett and Cook combined for a 6-0 victory in No. 3 doubles.
In singles, both Higgins in the No. 5 match and Miruna Constantin (Bucharest, Romania) in No. 6 were 6-0, 6-0 winners. Bennett claimed the No. 3 match by a 6-1, 6-4 score, and Cook was a 7-6, 6-1 winner in No. 4.
Bentley will look for its third straight win on Tuesday when they host New Haven, starting at 3:00 pm.
