Matuty to Serve as Bentley Women’s Tennis Captain

Waltham, Mass. – Sophomore Alessa Matuty will serve as captain of the Bentley women's tennis team for the 2019-20 season, as named by head coach Rick Edelmann.

Matuty shone for the Falcons in the spring season with a 6-1 record in both singles and doubles. She closed the season on a four match winning streak in singles, which included a straight sets win against Division I Holy Cross.

She also had a four match doubles winning streak to close the season, all played at No. 2.

Matuty and her Falcons teammates were picked 7th in the Northeast-10 Preseason Coaches' Poll. They garnered 38 points in the poll, to come in behind the likes of preseason favorite Stonehill, along with Adelphi and Le Moyne which also received first place votes.

Bentley gets its season started on Thursday, Sept. 5 when they host Worcester State. That is followed by the NE10 opener on Sept. 11 on the road against Saint Anselm. The first two NE10 home matches are against AIC on Sept. 14 and New Haven on Sept. 17.

All Bentley home matches will be played on the courts of Brandeis University in Waltham.
