Women’s Tennis Opens Season Saturday; Fabianski to Serve as Team Captain

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley women's tennis opens its 2018-19 campaign on Saturday with the Holy Cross Doubles Invitational, the first of 14 competitions this fall. Senior Hannah Fabianski (Pawcatuck, Conn./Stonington) will captain the squad into the new season.

The Falcons, led by head coach Rick Edelmann, have won 15 matches in each of the last two seasons to set new records for wins in a single season. After opening competition this weekend out in Worcester, the team plays a non-conference home match against Roger Williams on Tuesday, before they jump into NE10 action on the weekend with road matches against New Haven and Adelphi.

Fabianski, a senior who was the team's No. 1 singles player last season, will captain the squad. A three-time ITA Scholar-Athlete, she leads the program in wins over the last three years.

Along with Fabianski, there are three other returning players in juniors Tiffany Suchanek (Waterville, Maine/Waterville) and Katie Tynan () and sophomore Evann Welty (Wayzata, Minn./Mount Westonka). Suchanek played in No. 3 singles last season, while was named to both the NE10 All-Rookie team and third team All-Conference.

That quartet is joined by three freshmen who will look to mark their mark, in Yara Fayssal (Limassol, Cyprus), Cindy Luo (Stamford, Conn./Stamford) and Makena Romagnano (New Albany, Ohio/New Albany).
