Suchanek & von Oldenburg Win in Singles, but Bentley Falls to Connecticut College

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Sophomore Tiffany Suchanek (Waterville, Maine/Waterville) and senior Olivia von Oldenburg (Austin, Texas/Vandegrift) each won in singles, but the Bentley women's tennis team fell to Connecticut College 7-2 on Friday.

Suchanek claimed a 6-1, 7-5 victory over the Camels' Stephanie Simon in the No. 3 match, while von Oldenburg got the better of Angelica Warren in the No. 4 match. Von Oldenburg won the first set 6-4 before Warren rallied to take the second set 6-4. However, von Oldenburg prevailed in the third set tiebreaker 10-8 to claim the match.

The top two singles matches also went to tiebreaks. In the No. 1 match, senior Rachel Hui (Hong Kong) split the first two sets with Aleksandra Drljaca 6-3, 6-3, then the two engaged in a 28-point tiebreak, which Drljaca narrowly won 15-13. In the No. 2 match, freshman Evann Welty (Wayzata, Minn./Mount Westonka) dropped the first set 6-3 to Emily Migliorini, but rallied to win the second set 6-2. Migliorini though emerged from the tiebreak 10-2.

Bentley's record dropped to 13-7 on the season. They will be back on the courts on Thursday, April 5 at Providence.
