Bentley Sweeps Past Saint Rose for 3rd Straight Victory

 

LATHAM, N.Y. – Bentley continued its strong start to the season with a 9-0 sweep over Saint Rose on Friday in its Northeast-10 opener. Hannah Fabianski (Pawcatuck, Conn./Stonington) won in both No. 1 singles and doubles for the Falcons.

Fabianski led the charge with wins in both No. 1 doubles and singles. In the doubles matches, she teamed with Tiffany Suchanek (Waterville, Maine/Waterville) for an 8-0 shutout. The No. 2 match was a shutout as well, with the team of Rachel Hui (Hong Kong) and Evann Welty (Wayzata, Minn./Mound Westonka) winning their 3rd straight match.

When the action shifted to singles, Fabianski earned a hard-fought victory over Averie Bowen by a 6-4, 7-6 (10-8) count.

In the No. 2 and No. 3 matches, Katie Brandow (East Northport, N.Y./Northport) and Jill Kamphaus (Walpole, Mass./Ursuline Academy) each did not drop a game in 6-0, 6-0 sweeps. Senior Olivia von Oldenburg (Austin, Texas/Vandegrift) dropped just one game in a 6-0, 6-1 victory in the No. 4 match, while Rachel Madden (New Hartford, N.Y./New Hartford) posted a 6-2, 6-1 win in the No. 5 match.

With the victory, the Falcons are now 3-0 on the young season and have gotten off to a 1-0 start in NE10 play. They'll look to make it 4-0 tomorrow when they continue their swing through New York with a match at Le Moyne.
