Tynan Wins Twice in Bentley’s 6-3 Win over Saint Anselm

WALTHAM, Mass. – Freshman Katie Tynan (West Barnstable, Mass./Barnstable HS) won both of her matches in helping the Bentley University women's tennis team to a 6-3 victory over Saint Anselm on Saturday afternoon. Tynan won in both No. 1 doubles, with Rachel Petrini (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand), and in No. 4 singles.

Tynan and Petrini were the Falcons' lone winners in doubles, where they defeated Tess Malerbi and Meghan Golden in the No. 1 match 8-5. The Hawks though took the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead into the singles matches, requiring a rally of the Falcons.

And rally they did with five of six wins in singles play. Tynan was matched up against Kaitin Hughes in the No. 4 match, and the two split the first two sets by the same 6-0 score. However, Tynan emerged victorious by nabbing the third set 6-4.

Other singles winners for Bentley saw Hannah Fabianski (Pawcatuck, Conn./Stonington HS) drop just two games in the No. 2 match, winning it 6-1, 6-1. Senior Susan Stowe (Hebron, Conn./RHAM) dropped just one game in the No. 5 match in a 6-1, 6-0 victory, while junior Katie Brandow (East Northport, N.Y./Northport HS) dropped just one game as well in taking the No. 6 match.

Bentley's fifth singles winner was Tiffany Suchanek (Waterville, Maine/Waterville HS), 6-3, 6-3 in the No. 3 match.

The Falcons improved to 2-2 on the season with the win. They are back in action on Wednesday at home against Saint Michael's.
