Anghinetti & Petrini Named Women’s Tennis Captains

WALTHAM, Mass. – Seniors Kayla Anghinetti (Seekonk, Mass./Bishop Feehan) and Rachel Petrini (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) have been named captains of the Bentley women's tennis team for the 2016-17 season, head coach Rick Edelmann announced.

The two seniors will lead the squad into this weekend's season-opening action, which will see the Falcons visit Stonehill Friday night and host Franklin Pierce on Sunday at noon.

Anghinetti and Petrini are two of the team's three seniors, with last season's first team All-Northeast-10 singles player Susan Stowe (Hebron, Conn./RHAM) the other. Edelmann has six other returning players from last season's team, in addition to three newcomers, on a team that was picked 5th in the Northeast-10 Preseason Poll.

Anghinetti has been a member of the program for three seasons, and is majoring in accountancy. During her sophomore season she formed a successful doubles team with Stowe, where they went undefeated in NE-10 matches. Petrini, who is a marketing major, earned ITA Scholar-Athlete recognition for having a GPA of 3.50 or better for the 2015-16 year. She has 16 career singles wins and 17 career doubles wins.

Sunday's match against Franklin Pierce is the first of six matches Bentley will host during the fall, which will take place at Brandeis due to construction on campus.
