Three Bentley Doubles Teams Earn All-Conference Honors; Yamus Named to All-Rookie Team

WALTHAM, Mass. – Three doubles pairings from the Bentley University women's tennis team earned All-Conference honors from the Northeast-10, it was announced Monday. Freshman Ludmila Yamus (Deer Park, N.Y./Hal Hollow Hills East) was named to the All-Rookie team.

Yamus and freshman Catherine Gianino (Burlington, Mass./Burlington) were voted first team All-Conference in No. 2 doubles. They posted a 5-1 record overall in NE-10 doubles matches, and went 5-0 in the No. 2 spot in the fall.

Seniors Rachael Litton (Burlington, Ontario/Nelson) and Paulina Sotomayor (San Antonio, Texas/Ronald Reagan) were chosen second team All-Conference in No. 2 doubles. The pair went 8-2 overall in conference doubles matches during the regular season. A 4-1 record in the No. 2 spot this spring propelled them to All-Conference honors, but they also went 4-1 in the No. 1 spot in the fall.

Gianino earned her second All-Conference honor, along with freshman Brittani Hetyei (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Township), on the third team for No. 3 doubles. Their record was 4-1 in conference matches in the No. 3 spot this spring.

Yamus was one of six players named to the All-Rookie team. She went 6-6 in NE-10 singles matches, all played in the No. 1 spot. Her overall conference record in doubles stands at 7-5.

The five All-Conference selections helped the Falcons post an 8-4 mark in the NE-10 this season, which makes them the fifth seed in the Northeast-10 Championships. They will play the fourth seed Adelphi in the first round on Tuesday at 11:00 am in Garden City, N.Y.
