Bentley Cruises Past AIC 9-0

WALTHAM, Mass. – Despite battling the wind, the Bentley University women's tennis swept past American International 9-0 on Monday afternoon in Northeast-10 play.

It was the first NE-10 match of the spring for the Falcons, who improve to 4-7 overall and 4-0 in the NE-10. AIC is now 0-5 both overall and in the conference.

In doubles, juniors Paulina Sotomayor (San Antonio, Texas/Ronald Reagan) and Rachael Litton (Burlington, Ontario/Nelson) defeated Amanda McLean and Martine Turgeon 8-2 in the top-flight, and senior Brittany Harbert (Boxford, Mass./Masconomet) and sophomore Alyssa Hayes (Berlin, Conn./Berlin) bested Jasmine Byrd and Edna Olwo 8-0 in the second-flight.

In singles, junior Katie Van Gilst (Harwinton, Conn./Lewis S. Mills) beat McLean 6-0, 6-0 in the first-flight. Sophomore Alice Celli (East Meadown, N.Y./Kellenburg Memorial) and freshmen Stephania Adondakis (Sandy, Utah/Waterford School) and Kim Ma (West Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) also won in singles for Bentley.

The Falcons return to the courts Wednesday at Stonehill.
