Almog & Hapkiewicz Set for NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University will be represented by junior Emma Hapkiewicz (South Windsor, Conn./South Windsor HS) and sophomore Hilla Almog (Wayland/Wayland HS) during the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships in Indianapolis, Ind. this week.

Almog will be one of 34 women participating in the diving pre-qualification meet Tuesday at the IUPUI Natatorium, with competition getting underway at 10 am. The top 22 will earn the right to compete in the NCAA Championships later in the week.

During last month's Northeast-10 Championships, Almog earned silver from the one-meter board and placed fourth in the three-meter. She'll be competing in the pre-qual meet for the second time. Last year, she was placed 29th in the one-meter and 45th in the three-meter.

Hapkiewicz, who'll also be making a return trip to the nationals, will swim the 1000 yard freestyle on Wednesday morning, the 500 free on Friday and the 1650 free on Saturday. Last year, she finished 17th in the 1650, 25th in the 1000 and 35th in the 500.

On the psych sheet for the championships, Hapkiewicz is listed 11th of 31 in the 1650, 24th of 37 in the 1000 and 35th of 48 in the 500.

Last month at the Northeast-10's, Hapkiewicz earned the Women's Swimmer of the Meet award after capturing gold in the three distance free events. She broke her own school records in each and set two new meet records.
