Hapkiewicz & Almog Selected to Represent Bentley at NCAAs in Indianapolis

WALTHAM, Mass. – For the second straight year, Bentley University distance freestyler Emma Hapkiewicz (South Windsor, Conn./South Windsor HS) has been invited to participate in the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships, which will be held March 7-11 in Indianapolis, Ind.

Also representing Bentley in Indianapolis will be sophomore diver Hilla Almog (Westford/Westford Academy), who will participate in a pre-qualifying meet for the right to compete in the championships.

Hapkiewicz, a junior, is coming off a record-breaking performance in the Northeast-10 Conference Championships earlier this month where she was named the Women's Swimmer of the Meet. She set two meet records, broke her own school records in each of the three distance races and won three gold medals (500, 1000 and 1650 free), one silver (800 free relay) and one bronze (3:33.76).

Her times during the conference championships were 5:00.28 in the 500, 10:15.02 in the 1000 and 16:59.48 in the 1650.

On the psych sheet for the NCAAs, Hapkiewicz is listed 11th of 31 in the 1650, 24th of 37 in the 1000 and 35th of 48 in the 500.

At the 2022 championships, Hapkiewicz was 17th in the 1650, 25th in the 1000 and 35th in the 500.

Almog, at the NE10s, was second from the one-meter board and fourth from the three-meter. She did not advance in last year's NCAA pre-qual meet following six-dive scores of 189.15 from the one-meter and 146.30 from the three-meter. That was good for 29th and 45th off the two boards.

Forty divers will participate in the pre-qual which will be contested on Tuesday, March 7.
