Huminski, Vizental, Samko & Danehy Honored by Northeast-10

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University freshmen Mary Huminski (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand HS) and Anthony Vizental (Concord, Calif./Clayton Valley HS) were recognized Thursday as the Northeast-10 Conference announced its postseason awards for swimming and diving. Huminski was voted as the NE10 Women's Diver of the Year and Vizental was the choice as NE10 Men's Rookie of the Year.

In addition, Mary Kay Samko repeated as the Men's Swimming Coach of the Year in the conference and Rick Danehy did the same as the Women's Diving Coach of the Year.

Huminski swept the diving at the Northeast-10 Championships in February and participated in the NCAA Division II qualifying meet in Cleveland earlier this month. She captured the one-meter competition with a score of 437.70 and prevailed in the three-meter with a 387.65.

This is the fifth time in the last eight years that a Bentley student-athlete has been recognized as the Women's Diver of the Year in the conference with Huminski following Nicola Mancini (2013-14, 2016) and Paige Wilde (2015).

Vizental, the third Falcon in the last four years to be selected as the Northeast-10 Men's Rookie of the Year (Mark Zoda 2019, Daniel Sausto 2017), made four trips to the award podium during the conference championships. He earned gold in the 400 individual medley (4:02.04) and helped the Falcons turn in a winning performance in the 800 free relay (6:52.33).

Vizental was also the runner-up in the 200 IM (1:52.13) and the 200 butterfly (1:51.82). He also was part of Bentley relay teams that won the consolation finals in the 400 medley, 200 medley and 400 free.

Samko, an Arlington resident, was selected as the conference's top men's coach for the fourth time after leading the Falcons to the Northeast-10 championship and a 9-1 dual season. The 2019-20 season was the 24th at Bentley for the longtime coach.

This marked the sixth time that Danehy has been the NE10 Women's Diving Coach of the Year. Led by Huminski, Bentley women finished 1-2 off both boards and he had three participate in the NCAA Division II qualifying meet. Also a five-time NE10 Men's Diving Coach of the Year, the Ashland resident recently completed his 25th year as Bentley's diving coach.
