Bentley Breaks 9-Year-Old Pool Record While Notching 26th Straight Win

WALTHAM, Mass. – A new pool record in the 200 yard freestyle relay was among the highlights as the Bentley University women's swimming and diving team earned its 26th consecutive dual win, 132-98 over Keene State Saturday at the Dana Center pool.

Freshman Dariana Gonzales (Stamford, Conn./Westhill HS) swam the opening leg, classmate Kathryn Galvin (Suffern, N.Y./ Suffern HS) closed it out and junior Emily LaRovere (Lynnfield/Phillips Exeter Acad.) and sophomore Lucy Slowe (Millis/Millis HS) handled the middle two as Bentley closed out the meet with a 1:40.27.

That was about a quarter-second better than the time that Jessica Hodsdon, Amy Shin, Kellen Power and Monika Drogosz posted in 2010.

Double winners for the Falcons were Slowe, sophomore Rona Mejiritski (Bowling Green, Ohio/ Bowling Green HS) and freshman Mary Huminski (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand HS).

Slowe swam the 1000 free as an exhibition and finished in 10:53.73. She also took first in the 100 free with her 53.66 the second best in the Northeast-10 so far this season and anchored the winning 200 medley relay team (1:55.14).

Mejiritski doubled in the 400 individual medley (4:52.15) and the 200 butterfly (2:12.19). Huminski swept the diving with score of 2:52.97 from the one-meter and 190.12 from the three.

Other individual winners for Bentley were Gonzales in the 200 free (1:58.03), Galvin in the 50 free (25.45), senior Paige MacNeil (Branford, Conn./Branford HS) in the 500 free (5:25.46) and senior Ariana Revelas (Snyder, N.Y./Nardin Academy) in the 200 breaststroke (2:30.79). Gonzales' time in the 200 free put her second on the NE10 performance list.

Bentley, 5-0 this season, is off until the Gompei Invitational at WPI Dec. 6-8.
