Mancini Claims 18th NE-10 Diver of the Week Award; McGeary Selected as Men’s Rookie

WALTHAM, Mass. – This week's Northeast-10 Conference weekly award winners for swimming and diving included two Bentley University Falcons, senior Nicola Mancini (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth HS) and freshman Ryan McGeary (Paramus, N.J./Bergen Catholic HS).

Mancini was selected as the NE-10 Women's Diving Athlete of the Week for the 18th time in her collegiate career and McGeary was recognized as the NE-10's Men's Rookie of the Week.

After missing last year due to injury, Mancini won three of four competitions during the season's first two dual meets and met the NCAA qualifying standard on both boards. The three-time All-America and two-time NE-10 Women's Diver of the Year was a double-winner off the one-meter at Le Moyne  College (200.95, 270.20), finished first in the three-meter at WPI (292.27) and was second in the same meet off the one-meter (236.10).

Mancini was previously the NE-10 Diver of the Week 11 times as a sophomore and six times during her freshman year.

McGeary was a double-winner against WPI in the 500 yard freestyle (5:03.56) and 1000 free (10:21.92), and finished second in both events (5:01.75 500, 10:23.90 1000) in a week that saw him post the fourth best 1000 and the 5th best 500 in the NE-10 so far this season. He also helped a Bentley 400 free relay team place third at WPI (3:33.77).

In addition, Bentley junior Kaitlin McGahie (Boylston/Tahanto Reg. HS) was named to the NE-10 Weekly Honor Roll. After injuries kept her out of the WPI meet, she finished first in both the 50 free (25:35) and 100 free (55.62) in a 10-point win at Le Moyne, and also swam the meet's fastest leg (24.78) in Bentley's 200 free relay that finished second (1:44.29). Her 50 time was the second best in the conference this season and her 100 was the third best.

Bentley will open its home schedule Friday night against Roger Williams University.
