Mancini, Danehy Receive Honors from Northeast-10

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University sophomore All-America Nicola Mancini (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth HS) was recently named the Women's Diver of the Year in the Northeast-10 Conference and her coach, Rick Danehy, was recognized as the conference's Women's Diving Coach of the Year. Both received the honor for the second straight year.

Mancini, who was unbeaten off both the one- and three-meter boards until the NCAA Division II Championships, swept through the conference championships, repeating as NE-10 champion in both events. She captured the one-meter with a score of 403.00 and claimed the three-meter title with a pool and meet record 452.50. That effort earned her NE-10 Women's Diver of the Meet accolades for the second time in as many years.

At the NCAA Championships, Mancini earned her second and third career All-America awards by finishing seventh in the three-meter championship (469.85) and fifth in the three-meter (453.70). As a freshman, her first All-America award came with an eighth-place finish off the one-meter board.

Mancini was named the Northeast-10 Women's Diving Athlete of the Week 11 times during the course of the season.

Danehy, Bentley's diving coach since 1996, earned his fifth NE-10 Diving Coach of the Year award in the last six years. In addition to being the Women's Diving Coach of the Year for the second straight time, he's previously been the Men's Diving Coach of the Year three times.

His divers collected 78 points during the Northeast-10 Women's Championships and he had two others, in addition to Mancini, advance to the NCAA Division II pre-qualification meet.
