GENEVA, Ohio – Bentley University sophomore Nicola Mancini (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth HS) earned her second career All-America award by placing seventh in the three-meter diving during the opening day of the NCAA Division II Women's Swimming and Diving Championships at the Spire Wednesday evening.

Mancini broke the school record of 449.10, set by Emily Travers in 2011, in both sessions as she recorded a score of 456.50 during the prelims and bettered that with a  469.85 in the finals. She earned the right to compete in the evening session after placing sixth of 22 during the afternoon.

Mancini, who was 13th off the three-meter board a year ago, had a pair of 50-point dives during the finals. She scored a 54.00 with a forward two-and-a-half somersault pike for her second dive and finished with an even 50.00 with a forward one-and-a-half somersault two twice free, matching her score on that dive in the afternoon.

Her afternoon session also included a 52.65 on an inward two-and-a-half somersault tuck.

Mancini finished only 5.15 points out of fourth place and trailed runner-up Paige Kortman of Wayne State (Mich.) by only 26.6 points, less than two-and-a-half points per dive.

Kristin Day of California University (Pa.) captured the championship in convincing fashion with her 539.35 giving her a 52.8-point lead over Kortman.

Mancini will be back in action Friday when she competes in the one-meter championship, an event she earned All-America honors with an eighth-place finish in 2012.
