Le, McGahie Lead Bentley Past Saint Rose for 7th Straight Win

WALTHAM, Mass. – With senior Amanda Le (Chelmsford/Chelmsford HS) and freshman Kaitlin McGahie (Boylston/Tahanto Reg. HS) leading the way, the Bentley University women's swimming team celebrated Senior Day by running its winning streak to seven, 167-132 over The College of Saint Rose Sunday afternoon at the Dana Center pool.

Le, one of seven Falcons competing at home for the final time, won three individual events after being part of the Falcons' winning 200 yard medley relay. Her victories came in in the 100 breaststroke (1:09.25), the 200 breast (228:06) and the 200 individual medley (2:15.03) with her times in both the 200 breast and 200 IM the team's best of the year.

McGahie swam to victory in both the 50 freestyle (25.69) and the 100 free (team season-best 2:28.06), and anchored both winning relay teams. The 200 medley finished in 1:56.05 with McGahie joined by senior Caroline Lewis (Westfield/Westfield HS), Le and sophomore Melissa Clauss (Oakland, N.J./Bergen County Academies).

In the 200 free relay, sophomore Lindsey Goodwin (Staten Island, N.Y./Notre Dame Academy), freshman Danielle Hellstern (Southbury, Conn./Pomperaug HS) and junior Nadine Edwards (Danbury, Conn./Danbury HS) preceded McGahie into the pool, with the quartet finishing in 1:45.36.

Sophomore All-America Nicola Mancini (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth HS) kept her season record perfect as she swept both diving events, with scores of 289.65 in the one-meter and 282.30 in the three-meter.

Bentley's other victory in the meet came from sophomore Meg Pernsteiner (Highland Heights, Ohio/Hillcrest HS), with a season-best 2:17.67 in the 200 backstroke.

Bentley, 7-1 on the season, returns to action Saturday afternoon at Keene State.
