Rematch Between Bentley and Southern N.H. Set for Sunday in NE10 Quarterfinals

WALTHAM, Mass. – Just three days will separate matchups between Bentley and Southern New Hampshire. After the teams played on Wednesday night in the regular season finale, they will meet again on Sunday in Manchester, this time in the quarterfinals of the Northeast-10 Championship at 4:00 PM. It's the 3-6 matchup with the Penmen the higher seed.

How they got here

Bentley went 4-5-2 in the NE10 regular season for 14 points. SNHU went 5-2-4 for 19 points. The standings were tightly bunched with just six points separating third from eighth.

Falcons-Penmen Part II

SNHU hung on for a 1-0 victory over the Falcons on Wednesday night in Manchester. Bentley goalkeeper Claire Ewen made a career-high 13 saves but a 43rd minute goal by Georgia Greene was the difference.

Ewen ended the regular season with an NE10 best .875 save percentage.

Postseason history

This will be the third postseason matchup all-time between the two schools. Both prior games came in the quarterfinals, in 2017 and 2019. The Penmen won the first game, but Bentley won in 2019, 1-0, on its way to qualifying for the NCAA Tournament.

This will be the 29th game all-time.

NE10 bracket

The winner of this game will play the winner of the 2-7 matchup between Adelphi and AIC in the semifinals on Nov. 9.

On the other side of the bracket, No. 1 Saint Rose hosts No. 8 Southern Connecticut and No. 4 Franklin Pierce takes on No. 5 Saint Anselm.

The championship match is on Sunday, Nov. 12 at the highest remaining seed.
