Bentley Places Six on CSC Academic All-District Women’s Soccer Team

WALTHAM, Mass. – Six student-athletes from the Bentley University women's soccer team were announced to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Women's Soccer Team for Division II.

The six named Academic All-District are goalkeeper Claire Ewen (Arlington, Mass./Arlington), defenders Ryenne Feeney (Boxford, Mass./Masconomet), Jillian Hendriksen (Pembroke, Mass./Pembroke) and Corinne Messier (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton) and forwards Sydney O'Connor (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield) and Liliana Silva (North Grafton, Mass./Grafton).

The criteria for being named Academic All-District is the student-athlete must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 and be a starter or important reserve. Those named All-District advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot.

Ewen started all 18 matches in goal for the Falcons. She currently ranks third in the NE10 in saves (82) and fourth in save percentage (.804). She was named the NE10 Goalie of the Week on Oct. 17.

She is majoring in economics, and liberal studies with a focus in Earth, Environment, and Sustainability.

Feeney, a junior defender, started 17 matches and ranked third on the team in minutes played at 1,500. She is majoring in corporate finance and accounting, with a minor in international affairs.

A sophomore center back, Hendriksen was named second team All-NE10. She started all 18 matches and led the team in minutes played at 1,595. She played all 90 minutes in all but three matches this season.

Messier is a senior defender and is majoring in health and business studies. A team captain, she started all 18 matches and was second on the team in minutes played with 1,555.

O'Connor, a sophomore, was tied for second on the team in both goals (4) and points (8). She scored the game-winner in Bentley's 1-0 victory over Saint Michael's on Oct. 18 and also scored in a 1-1 tie with Saint Anselm, among her notable goals.

Silva also scored four goals and had eight points to tie O'Connor in both of those categories. A senior, she is majoring in professional sales, with a minor in human resources. She scored in Bentley's 2-1 victory over nationally-ranked Mercy on Oct. 10.
