Bentley Drops 2-0 Decision to Southern Connecticut St. but Playoff Spot Secured

 NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut scored two first half goals in a 2-0 victory over Bentley University on Saturday to snap the Falcons' four match winning streak.

Bentley fell to 5-5-1 in the Northeast-10 and to 7-6-3 overall. The Owls improved to 5-3-3 NE10 and 7-5-3 overall.

Going into the final day of the regular season on Wednesday, the Owls will lead Bentley by two points in the standings for fourth place and the final home playoff match in the NE10 Championship. The Falcons' spot in the tournament is already secured. Bentley has 16 points and Southern Connecticut 18.

The Owls took the lead in the 5th minute with a goal by Kelsey Burr, her fourth strike of the season. The hosts then doubled their lead in the 34th minute off the foot of Kat Mancinone.

Falcons goalie Claire Ewen (Arlington, Mass./Arlington) made seven saves on the day. Sydney O'Connor (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield) led the team with two shots on goal.

On the final match day on Wednesday, Bentley will play host to Southern New Hampshire at 3:00 pm and Southern Connecticut will visit Saint Anselm.
